Welcome to the School of Ancient Crafts.

We offer Living History Workshops to Primary Schools and Community Groups in Edinburgh, Scotland. All of our participants get a chance to learn about history through practical tasks. Every session is full of hands on activities and offer a 'Real Life Experience'.

Our workshops cover a wide period of history and curriculum topics including, Iron Age Celts, Romans, Vikings.

We have a workshop programme and can also provide tailored workshops. All our workshops are curriculum linked, and we also provide risk assessments for teachers.

Wonderful News The Heritage Sewing Group have completed the replica of the Marian Hanging and it is now on display in its new permanent home of Edinburgh Castle. Well done to the team of embroiderers!

* We are delighted to announce that our Romans in Scotland project is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund 2015. 

* Wonderful News The Iron Age Farming project has been Nominated for the British Archaeology Awards 2014 by Archaeology Scotland

* We have just launched our new project all about the life and times of Mary Queen of Scots, over 300 school children have joined the project, which we are delighted to say is funded by the Heritage Lottery fund.  June 2014.
