Jacobite Tartan Workshop
The Jacobite Rebellions were a turning point in Scottish History. In this workshop we view the Jacobite uprising from the perspective of a Crofter in the highlands who is living at the end of the rebellion; when tartan and the bagpipes were banned in the Highlands. In this workshop pupils will discover the secret of Tartan, how it was recorded and concealed, and all the pupils will learn how to weave it on our large mechanical looms. At the end you will keep your tartan. Complex looms are suitable from P5 upwards.
